What is a vertical autoclave?

Design and Vertical Autoclave Construction

Vertical autoclaves are double-walled units made of thick gauge stainless steel sheet of S.S.-304/M.S. grade with an outer body and inner chamber made of heavy gauge stainless steel. They can be air-insulated, or alternatively, mineral glass wool insulation can be incorporated into them. The lid includes a dual radial safety locking system for easy opening and closing. Hospitals and research labs find vertical autoclaves ideal, thanks to a dual safety steam release valve and pressure gauge. To ensure maximum safety and protection, they are tested for up to 2.5 times the standard working pressure. Some of the most common features include a stainless steel basket and pressure gauge.

Heating: Uses specially designed water heaters to ensure that the sterilization is carried out within an optimal period.
Working/Temperature Pressure: Boosted to 134⁰C for particular requirements.
Working Pressure: The standard pressure of 15 PSI can be increased up to 30 PSI.
Pressure Range: Nominal pressure operates within a 5 to 20 psi range.
Pressure Control: A semi-automatic piezostatically controlled pressure, where current is cut off when the heater pressure goes beyond a predetermined value.
